Key Responsibilities:
Patient Assessment and Monitoring: Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients before, during, and after dialysis treatment. Monitor vital signs, assess fluid removal, and evaluate overall patient condition to ensure safe and effective treatment.
Dialysis Procedure Management: Administer medications, including heparin to prevent clotting, and manage dialysis equipment during treatments. Adjust machine settings based on patient response and physician orders.
Patient Education and Support: Educate patients and their families about kidney disease, dialysis procedures, medication management, and lifestyle modifications. Provide emotional support and address patient concerns throughout the treatment process.
Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with nephrologists, dialysis technicians, dietitians, and other healthcare team members to coordinate care plans and optimize patient outcomes. Communicate effectively with team members to ensure continuity of care.
Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including treatment plans, medication administration, and patient progress. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and documentation requirements.
Emergency Response: Respond promptly to medical emergencies and adverse reactions during dialysis treatments. Implement emergency protocols and provide immediate interventions to stabilize patients.
Infection Control and Safety: Adhere to strict infection control protocols, including sterilization of equipment, proper hand hygiene, and maintaining a clean and safe dialysis environment.
Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits to enhance patient care delivery and safety within the dialysis unit.
